We checked out of the Imperial and were driven through the very congested Delhi traffic. It was worse than usual because Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu is in Delhi meeting with Indian Prime Minister Modi. The drive to the airport went right by where Bibi was staying. There were lots of soldiers everywhere and the security was quite evident.

The flight was uneventful and we were met by Vijay and reunited with our luggage he had schlepped to Udaipur for us. It allowed us to only use carry-on and expedited our leaving the airport.

We drove directly to The Lake Palace landing, where we greeted by the hotel staff and placed in a small boat for the short ride to the palace. This is a once in a life time place to stay. For us it is actually a twice in a life time place given we stayed here last year. They had blocked the same room for us, so no one else would get it. It is truly spectacular! We decided we would just stay in the hotel, because we were familiar with Udaipur. This hotel is one of the few places in the world I can just hang out and relax.

The hotel was built on the water as the summer palace for the Maharaja, because the water keeps it cool during the hot summer days.

His real palace is no more than 500 yards across the water and is immense. Cathy rested while I used the Spa. We decided to eat dinner outdoors on the terrace looking back across the water at the illuminated palace. On our previous stay we didn't realize there was this outdoor rooftop restaurant looking back at the illuminated palace.

Udaipur is very clean and quiet and it is an amazing experience to be staying at the Lake Palace. I can’t think of any other place that has the romance and serenity that this hotel has. Only guests are allowed in the Palace so it is very private.

We had cocktails and watched a performance of Rajasthani musicians. It was then up to the rooftop to sit outside and enjoy the food and view. If only we could get Trump out of our minds, it would be a perfect experience.
